Friends, family, and random insomniacs,
Welcome. You may not find much here that's entertaining, but you might like some of the old photos. I made this before Myspace existed and it has a lot of the same egocentric ramblings you would find in a social network site. I'm leaving it up because no one visits besides my family, so i figure it can't really hurt to have it here.
More About Me Than You Ever Wanted to Know
My father was born during the depression and served in Hawaii during WWII. My Mother, an RN, is 12 years younger than my father. Her memories of WWII involve one of my aunts going to an army base to meet soldiers. My parents met at a Post College Club dance. My father was involved with folk dancing and my mother was in Gamma Delta. Anyway, it was true love, so they got married and had children.
I was born in Chicago on January 21, 1967. There was a snowstorm immediately following my birth, Chicago's "Blizzard of the Century". I don't know what kind of omen that might be for my life, but my mom still tells me about the ride home from the hospital and the trouble I caused her. My sister Kathy is two years older than me. To my knowledge, nothing she has done has been heralded by a blizzard.
I grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois. It was a fairly normal childhood. I attended St. Andrew's Lutheran grade school and Maine South High School. When I was young, my grandfather took my family up to Crivitz Wisconsin each year for the county fair. Kathy and I also went to Camp Mount Morris every summer. I did a lot of reading and horseback riding before I was old enough to properly misspend my youth.
As time went on, I collected a number of degrees. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from DePaul University, a Juris Doctor from De Paul University School of Law, and a Masters of Teaching from National-Louis University. I participated in a number of foreign studies, enabling me to see countries such as Hungary, Germany and Ireland. I practiced family law for about a year, and I tried a few alternative legal careers before becoming a teacher.
For three years I taught AP Psychology, Law and Theory of Knowledge at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago. Now I work from my home so that I can care for my parents. I also waste a lot of time on the Internet.
